Water colour painting of the interior of a Casting House c1810

A very good representation of the interior of a casting house in the early part of the 19th century. The figure on the right partially crouching is tapping the furnace to allow the molten iron to run into the moulds which are embedded in the floor in front of us. The two figures with their backs to us are ensuring the iron flows freely and scraping any remaing slag off the top.
