The Mill Machinery

Another view of the machinery from the wall that was against the mill pond dam. The large wheel on its edge is the "Pit Wheel" which is on the same axle as the waterwheel. That drives the lowest gear wheel on the vertical shaft, known as the wallower. The large wheel above that is the spur wheel which is where the drive for the grindstones is taken. The tentering beam can be seen on the right.
